WIth these fiue persons aboue recited and cōdemned, wer also two women in the same company condemned at the same tyme, and lykewyse burned for the same cause, the one a wyfe called Isabell Foster, the other a mayde named Ioane Warne, or otherwyse Lashford.
This foresayde Isabell was borne in Grafestocke in the dioces of Carlyll, maryed afterward, and coupled to one Iohn Foster cutler, of the parish of Sayncte Brides in Fletestrete aboute the age of, lv. yeares. She likewise for not commyng vnto the Churche, beyng sente vnto Boner, and so imprisoned, was sondrye tymes examined by the sayd Bishop, but neuer ouercome, nor remoued from the constant confession of Christes Gospell. At length comming vnto her finall examination before the Bishop in the consistorye, the. xv. day of the sayd moneth of Ianuarye, was moued agayn, whether she would yet goe from her former answeres. Whereunto she geueth a resolute answere in fewe wordes: I will not, sayeth she, goe from them by Goddes grace. The date of the execution of Whittle, Green and the others has been disputed. The normally reliable London diarist Henry Machyn states that it took place on 22 January (The Diary of Henry Machyn, ed. J. G. Nichols, Camden Society, original 42 , p. 99). The chronicler Charles Wriothesley supports Foxe in stating that Whittle and the others were executed on 27 January.
